TIPS FOR A SAFE AND HEALTHY PREGNANCY IN WINTERDr. Ashish Kale
It’s amazing being pregnant at any season of the year, of course, but winter brings on a few unique challenges. How to stay comfortable and reduce women’s problems when winter hits
Remember to stay hydrated
Just because it’s not warm outside, you may think dehydration is not going to be a difficulty, but winter air can be very dry, and when you are going into cold places or homes you probably will find yourself hot and sweaty. So remember to take more water than you think you need to.
Wear a Winter Jacket
Being soft and warm is the most important thing in the winter period. Buying a new jacket to wear is a good idea as it will help in maintaining the body hot. Instead of going to the thrift store to buy a maternity coat to use only for a few periods, it is a wiser decision to buy a winter jacket and keep the body comfortable and warm by zipping it up correctly. Though it may be attractive to wear the regular jacket that you own, a new jacket will help you stay healthy and survive easily when the winter elements get tough.
Stay in Home as much as Possible
When you are pregnant, your body converts more sensitive and vulnerable to diseases. It can be very dangerous if your body is exposed to severe weather situations and the mother and the baby can be hurt by the bacteria. Some women experience common cold and cough due to severe weather situations. The sensitive body during pregnancy takes time to adjust to the changed environment of chilly winds outside after leaving the cozy home. All outings should be postponed severe weather situations during pregnancy
When it is seriously cold, it is not easy to go for a walk as the chilly air makes the lungs feel like they are loaded with icicles. For pregnant women, it is even more complicated. Some indoor activities can be a good replacement to keep yourself healthy and safe. You can go to a local indoor pool, join a gym, do regular yoga to stay healthy and active during peak winters during pregnancy.
